Rotobrush Coil Cleaning: The Atlanta Owner’s Guide

Coil cleaning on a Rotobrush system in Atlanta typically runs $120 to $310 installed, parts included, and we can usually have a technician out the same week you call. The part most people call us about is the coil cartridge itself, or the spray bar that feeds cleaning solution through the brush head. Here’s how it usually unfolds: your Rotobrush starts leaving streak marks on the duct walls, the brush feels like it’s dragging, or you notice the cleaning solution isn’t flowing evenly anymore. That’s the coil cleaning assembly telling you it’s tired. If you’re seeing any of that, you’re in the right place. Call (470) 408-4927 and we’ll match the right part to your exact Rotobrush model, quote you a flat price, and get it installed before your next job slows down.

Which Rotobrush Models This Applies To

We work on the full Rotobrush lineup you’ll find across Atlanta: the aiR+ series, the 1X and 1V models, the older Viper machines still running strong in a lot of shops, and the brush-and-vacuum combos that dominate residential duct cleaning here. The coil cleaning assembly isn’t universal, and that’s the thing most people get wrong when they order parts online. The aiR+ uses a different coil cartridge diameter than the Viper series. The spray bar on a 1X doesn’t seat properly in a 1V housing. We see that mistake at least once a month: someone buys a coil kit off a parts site, it doesn’t fit, and now they’ve spent money and still have a machine down.

The fastest way to know what you need is to read the label on the side of your coil housing. Rotobrush stamps a series code on the cartridge body, near the quick-connect fitting. If the label is worn off, measure the outside diameter of the coil itself. The aiR+ coils run 1.98 inches. The 1X/1V series runs 2.15. A half-inch difference sounds small until you try to force it into a housing that was never made for it. On OEM versus aftermarket for Rotobrush specifically: we stock both. The OEM coils from Rotobrush hold up better in high-use months, and Atlanta’s summer humidity puts extra strain on the cleaning solution feed system. Aftermarket coils from brands like Guardsman work fine for moderate use, but expect to replace them a little sooner. Either way, we’ll tell you the honest tradeoff before you spend a dollar.

One note so we’re clear: Cardinal Air Duct Atlanta is an independent service provider. We’re not affiliated with Rotobrush. We do stock their parts, we install them daily, and Omar Haddad has been working on these machines since his days at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College, so you’re getting experienced hands either way.

Signs Your Rotobrush Coil Cleaning Is Failing

  • Streaking on duct walls during cleaning. This is the coil not rotating true anymore. The bearings inside the coil cartridge wear unevenly, and the brush starts skipping. You’ll see clean stripes alternating with dirty ones.
  • Solution stops flowing or comes out in spurts. The spray bar inside the coil assembly is clogged or the feed tube has collapsed. Atlanta water is hard, and mineral buildup inside the spray bar is the most common failure we see in this market.
  • Brush head feels like it’s fighting you. When the coil loses its spring tension, the brush doesn’t conform to the duct walls the way it should. You end up pushing harder and getting less contact. More effort, worse result.
  • Unusual vibration or rattling at the brush head. The coil’s internal spring assembly has broken or stretched. Running it this way is how you score the inside of a duct or burn out the drive motor, which turns a $200 fix into a $900 one.
  • Cleaning takes noticeably longer than it used to. This is the slow failure mode. As coil tension fades, you compensate with more passes per duct run. If your jobs have crept from two hours to three and a half, the coil assembly is the usual suspect.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Here are the real numbers for Atlanta, not a national average. You’ll see coil cartridge replacement between $120 and $185 on a typical aiR+ or 1X. A full coil cleaning assembly, meaning the cartridge plus the spray bar and feed line, runs $210 to $310 installed. The range depends on two things: whether your unit takes OEM or aftermarket, and whether the housing itself needs to be cleaned out because old coil debris has packed itself into the seat.

Every quote includes the part, the labor to install it, testing the spray pattern and coil tension before we leave, and disposal of the old assembly. We do not charge you a separate “shop fee” or add a diagnostic charge that then gets waived if you buy. That model drives us crazy and we won’t do it. The price Omar quotes you over the phone is the price on the invoice, period. And the install itself is covered under our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the coil assembly fails within a year, we return and make it right at no charge.

DIY or Call Us?

Here’s the honest split. If you’re handy and you’re dealing with a clogged spray bar, you can sometimes clear it by soaking the bar in a descaling solution and running a thin wire through the orifices. That’s a five-minute job and it’s safe. If the coil has lost tension, if the bearings are grinding, or if the housing is packed with debris, that’s where DIY goes wrong. The coil is under constant spring load, and removing it without the release tool can send parts across the shop and take a chunk of finger with them. We’re not trying to scare you. We just want you to know that a coil assembly swap is a fifteen-minute job for us and a potential injury for anyone working without the right experience. Safety first on this one, no exception.

If you want to try the spray bar clean yourself, go for it and we’ll be here if it doesn’t solve the problem. If the coil itself is done, call (470) 408-4927. Omar Haddad will match the part to your model over the phone and have a tech out with the right cartridge on the truck. We also stock Rotobrush-compatible parts alongside coils for Lennox, Trane, and Carrier units, so if you’re running a mixed fleet, one call covers it.
